Beach Road Ride

Postby Fabby » Sun Jan 31, 2010 3:50 pm

Hey guys just trying to organise a nice stroll down Beach Rd nothing as demanding as Kinglake in fact was talking to a mate whom happened to be riding Kinglake on Saturday as well (Although i did not see him) he said that his bunch climbed it twice!!
So if anyone can suggest a date please note them here and we will organise it.
Also put down your names and suggested meeting point and time.
As it is no where near as trying as KL it will be a much more of a bunch ride.
legs feel ok today but BOY THEY WERE SORE LAST NIGHT!!
Ciao for now
Fabian

Sounds like a good idea Fab

I'd suggest riding from St kilda to mordi and the stronger riders can keep going down the neapen Hwy and we can meet back at St Kilda or Elwood for some snacks.
maybe Feb 20 or 21 would be a good date.

Hi Fabby,
myself & the GLW are up for it. Our preference would be to Frankston return for 80km or so distance rather than just to Mordi but will go with whatever. No particular preference from starting either at Stkilda or Port Melbourne as we'll be driving to the start , but anyone riding or catching public transport might have a preference.
Any weekend is also good but preferably one that's sunny, about 25 degrees & no wind, if can you arrange it please :D .

8:00 am start would be good, as it'll take me 1 hour to get there.

I'd say high 30's would be a good average speed not super fast more like a nice C grade race.

I was thinking high 20's low 30's might be more appropriate so as to make it suitable to a greater number of people. I couldn't manage high 30's for 80k's, I'm not as young as you Zabriskie. :D
We can always regroup at say Mordi & again at Frankston or wherever .

I'll put myself down for this tentatively. My wrist is in a cast atm, I'll be getting it taken off on the 9th or 10th... Hopefully I can get on the road immediately and my fitness hasn't declined too much.

Is there a tentative date for this? I'd like to join in (but more like high 20's/low 30s) but have a few things I need to work around

I am down in Melb for work over the next couple of weekends. Mornings free are the 6th and 14th.
If ride is either of these dates count me in. I'm busy the following weekend so may miss out on the opportunity.
Otherwise will be riding the formentioned days from Warrigul road towards city and back from about 8am.
Yell out if you see a fat bastard on a blue Giant in blue/yellow Jersey.

If you want a good beach road ride with a good group then consider low 30's.

Beach Road is fast if you do it 5 times a week. Also don't forget you will always get a headwind on the way down or one the return, which will easily cap your speed.

Well someone has to come up with a date or we won't get anywhere!
I'll start by nominating either Sat 13th or Sun 14th Feb.
KenGS do you have any preferred dates?
