The serial number reads 0834, both on the English BB shell and the fork steerer.
Geoff's one above has serial number 1406, and he reckons its a 87-88 frame. Another member's is 1542 which was a 1990 purchase, April from his memory. So in the space of 2-3 years, 136 Kenevans frames were produced. So with my frame having 0834, I am assuming mine is about 4 years prior to Geoff's, making it a 1984 or at least a mid 80s frame. This is all assuming the serial numbers counted up by one for each frame produced. If other members can chime in with their serial numbers and frame ages, itll help to see if my theory is correct.

Just to make it harder - stripping a Kenevans for painting atm. Checked the serial - 0064 repeated both on the BB and steerer. Same stamp / format as above. Story is it was built for the chap that I bought it from who did some very respectable racing way back when and was fairly sure of his details - '84ish and 753 build. For a Kenevans the 753 would make it no older than 1984/85 as I recall.QuangVuong wrote: Geoff's one above has serial number 1406, and he reckons its a 87-88 frame. Cracker of a build but FWIW it doesn't have the 'K' pantos. Seller was sure of his details so.............

Someone was talking to me about my Kenevans, and he had a feel under the BB shell. Felt the two cutouts and said, it's definitely after 85, but by not much. At the time I didn't ask about what the cutouts meant. I've seen ones with no cut outs and others with one cutout. Anyone know what it's all about?
Another way to possibly date my one is through the dropouts. Seems like I have Campag 1060 Sport vertical dropouts. They weren't popular, and not too many bikes have it. What time did they come out?

Ken Evans Profile frame, Campag. groupset, Cinilli stem, Cinilli L.A.84 bars, Miche hubs at both ends, Mavic GP4 rims & a Cinilli BB with 0783 stamped on it.
Shimano dropouts & tagged with a Columbus Aelle seat tube decal but the forks have riffling so I guess there SLX.
Size is 54 c2c square. Weight 9.5kg as pictured with Look pedals.
At few more pics here...

I don't know how true this is, but the rifling in the steerer doesn't always necessarily mean it's SLX. All(?) Columbus steerers had rifling. This is what I was told after I thought it was only SLX which had it.

I'd been wondering about the same thing myself, but been too disorganised/lazy to get some current pictures of mine up. The few other examples I've seen posted here and elsewhere over the last few years I seem to remember being only Aluminium frames. However my example is Columbus OS EL tubing, 'cept for the fork which is Ally.schuberj wrote:Do you mind if Evolutions appear here too?
I wouldn't be adverse to a seperate thread, but hey.. whatever the throng goes with.
