The next swap meet is on the 25th October (see separate thread).

Harry Clarke is the man with the decals, heaps of them.
Not sure if Harry will be at the swap meet ( he is well over 80 years old) :)

I managed to miss the swap meet :-(

However, I am trying to restore a Robs Special (to keep) and am looking for decals. Cycles Gitane suggested that Harry Clarke is the man to ask. Anyone know how I can contact him?

Any help would be appreciated.

Harry is in a nursing home now and is pretty crook, try sending a pm to Mark, ( barkmadly ) on here, he may be able to help

Hi all interested in Robs Cycles and George Robinson. Most of the information here is incorrect. I was employed there for 18 years.

Robs Cycles decals are available for free from 1950, s to 1980, s. Before I hand any over I wish to see the bike to confirm that its a genuine robs, either a hand made or a imported hallmark or master sports. I have the complete list of all bikes sold inc all seat lug or bottom bracket numbers. Im available to be contacted on here or via mobile. Noel Shone, 0418132591

OK Noel I'll take you up on that. I have a Rob Special that features in a couple of threads on the forum. The bottom bracket has two 3 digit numbers 572 and 223 that are hand stamped. These numbers are also on the fork. They do not appear to be related to each other as they are stamped way apart, Picture of bike below:

I was wondering whether you would be happy for me to save the newspaper articles about Robs Cycles, and post to our Blackburn Cycling Club History Page that we are currently setting up.
Look forward to your reply.
Thanks heaps
Kylie

Yes you can take them, I didn’t write them, not sure what the Herald Sun would say?
The second 1970s article is hard to read. I will try to find my print copy and do a better scan.
Cheers

Hi all I am new to this site and have read this thread about Rob's Cycles.
I have an old 1950s Rob's Special track bike that I inherited from an uncle who was an original member of the Blackburn Cycling club and had the bike made for him by George Robinson. We also have his old leather helmet, club badge and shirt.
As I have downsized properties and have no room to display it so am looking for any interested enthusiasts who may want to purchase a vintage bike.
I can email photos to anyone who is interested.

Check your messages as I would be keen to look at these. I have some connections to one of the early riders there who may know your late uncle and may be able to shed some more information.
