Investigators from the Caulfield Recidivist Response Team have released images of two bicycles found under questionable circumstances in the hope of locating the rightful owners.
Police came across the first bike during a burglary investigation at Edinburgh Street Bentleigh East on Friday afternoon.
Upon arrival they arrested the man for burglary at the residential address and seized his getaway transport, a black and red Merida Reacto men’s racer.
Police charged the 38-year-old man with burglary, theft and handle stolen goods before he was released from custody on bail to attend the Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court on 18 November.
Some two hours after having been released, the Hampton East man was arrested in Bentleigh for shop theft and not surprisingly, found with another bike.
Police from the same station began the process of dealing with the man and this time bail was opposed.
At an out-of-sessions bail hearing the man was granted bail.
He left the station shortly after however police added to their bike collection, this time it was a purple Avanti men’s racer.
Police believe both bikes have been stolen from the Glen Eira/Bayside/Kingston areas and are asking people who may be the victim to view the attached two photographs.
Should you be the rightful owner, please contact First Constable Josh Gimson at the Caulfield Recidivist Response Team on 9524 9500.
