Alejandro Valverde Hoping for a Podium Finish

Alejandro Valverde spoke about his Tour of Romandy and how he’s feeling after the 2nd stage. Valverde is 8th overall, 36 seconds behind Swiss Astana rider Gregory Rast who is still the leader of the race on the eve of the team time trial which will take place tomorrow around the locality of Yverdon-les-Bains.

"The final part of this second stage of the Tour of Romandy was a very moved one with plenty of attacks and counter-attacks so that the bunch broke in different parts. I am still feeling very well so that when Cadel Evans and Philippe Gilbert attacked together in the last hill, at about 15 kilometers from the finishing line, I asked my team-mates to chase behind the two riders of the team Silence-Lotto because they were dangerous not only for the stage win but also for the general classification."

"I later attacked while it was going uphill so that we were able to catch them at 4 kilometers from the line. Tomorrow we have to take part in a 15 kilometers long team time trial. I don’t believe there will be big gaps and we will give it all to remain amongst the first in the overall ranking. In the morning we will go and train on the course."
