Barloworld: Tour of Luxembourg and Pantani

After riding aggressively and performing well at the Giro d’Italia, Team Barloworld is ready for two other races in Europe in the next few days: the five-day Tour of Luxembourg and the one-day Memorial Pantani race in Italy.

The Tour of Luxembourg begins on Wednesday June 3 and ends on Sunday June 7 after a total of 650km of racing. The action begins with a evening prologue stage over 2.7km in Luxembourg-Ville.

The Team Barloworld line-up will be directed by Valerio Tebaldi and includes Francesco Bellotti, Diego Caccia and Robert Hunter, who all rode so well in the Giro d’Italia. Also in the team are Patrick Calcagni, Carlo Scognamiglio and young riders Marco Corti and Michele Merlo.

The Memorial Marco Pantani race is on Saturday June 6. Alberto Volpi will be directeur sportif and the riders for the Italian race are: John Lee Augustyn, Gianpaolo Cheula, Chris Froome, Paolo Longo Borghini and Britain’s Steve Cummings. The testing 183.7km course near Pantani’s home town of Cesenatico on the Adriatico coast includes three climbs of the Montevecchio climb.

Tour de Luxembourg: The stages

June 3  prologue : Luxembourg-Ville 2.9km
June 4  1st stage : Luxembourg – Mondorf-les-Bains 142.5km
June 5  2nd stage: Schifflange – Differdange 184.5km
June 6  3rd stage: Wiltz – Diekirch 172.8km
June 7  4th age: Mersch – Luxembourg 146.9km
