Giro: Cadel closes in, Porte stays in touch

In the steep 16th stage individual time trial, Cadel Evans finishes second while Richie Porte holds onto a podium position. Italian rider Stefano Garzelli (Team Acqua & Sapone) took the 12,9km uphill stage in 41min 28sec with Cadel Evans (Team BMC Racing) 42sec behind and Frenchman John Gadret (Team AG2R-La Mondiale) shortly behind.

David Arroyo keeps the Pink leaders jersey followed by Ivan Basso (2min 27sec), Richie Porte (2min 36sec) and Cadel Evans (3min 09sec) in fourth.
