Matthew Lloyd takes Giro stage 6

Matthew Lloyd of team Omega Pharma-Lotto takes the 173km stage 6 of the Giro d’Italia. After a 128 km breakaway, he left his breakaway companion, Rubens Bertogliati just 15km from the finish line to take the stage victory over a minute ahead of Rubens… who was a mere 9 seconds ahead of the chase pack.

Richie Porte holds 6th position in the overall classifications while Saxobank teammate Baden Cooke is in 8th. Porte is second overall in the white Jersey for while Graeme Brown (Rabbobank) trails just behind points leader Tyler Farrar.
